It was August 1996 downtown New York City. I remember it was one of those summer days, I was sitting outside waiting for my friend to show up. To pass the time, I sketched on a matchbook because I couldn’t find anything else to draw on. Accidentally, I set myself up for a little project called - sketches on matches! I also want to say thank you to those people who brought me matchbooks from their favorite places so I can have more material to play with. About those places I visited myself, I want to say the food was great, the atmosphere was sweet and cozy, and I think that New York City is the best place to taste food from all over the world and experience good energy from a variety of people being all together.
